Fun read.
This story is about a boy that is living a miserable life at his adoptive family. He has a girl he likes and her feelings are mutual. But then some supernatural monsters show up and ruin their little bit of happiness. She is in coma and he has 3 months to find a cure for the supposedly unhealable bite of a “death disciple”. Mc needs to attend an academy to find out more.
This is mainly an action/comedy story with some romance/drama in between. It is a teenager story, meaning teenagers are the shits and the grown ups play mainly smaller roles. But it is fun when you just go along with it and dont question anything.
The art is a chinese webtoon art. It reminds me of the countless cultivation webtoons with faceslapping and stuff (dont worry this one is a bit better than those). The backgrounds are mostly filled and the amount of details is ok. It is funny how easy it is to play “spot the main characters” because every relevant character has a different haircolor and style compared to the extras. But I dislike the art for its simplicity sometimes. Stil, very good art.
The characters are reminding me of the many jump shonen manga out there. Teenagers that have supernatural abilities, the comradery between the “good” characters, the rise in power level when fighting an overwhelming enemy. Although one can’t expect much depth from these characters it is easily enough for an action-focussed story like this one. Very good characters.
2 sum up it, this is a chinese action webtoon with comedy that didn’t make me groan in pain with all the faceslapping and fortunate encounters. The story is fun, the art and characters are good enough and I really read over 100 chaps before stopping. Give it a try if you feel like it.
