Summary
The final hour of the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has come. However, Momonga, a powerful wizard and master of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last few moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down. To his surprise, despite the clock having struck midnight, Momonga is still fully conscious as his character and, moreover, the non-player characters appear to have developed personalities of their own!
Confronted with this abnormal situation, Momonga commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world, with the hopes of figuring out what has caused this development and if there may be others in the same predicament.

It’s as good as the anime but still quite abit off from it in how far the story goes
Is the anime going off the Light Novel then?
Yep! Just look at the latest chapter of the manga and you’ll see that they haven’t even started Vol.9 (Jircniv visiting Nazarick).
It’ll take them another year to reach the end of S3.
If you want to move forward, pick up Vol.9 (light novel), read the Intermission about the Dragon Kingdom (skipped in the anime), then go to Vol.10.
Aren’t they using vol 10 and 11 for the movie (might be mistaken)
The movie is about the Holy Kingdom arc so Vol.12 and 13.
Though it’s unclear if they plan to adapt both volumes in the movie (which is crazy) or if they plan to make S4 cover Vol.10-12 and the movie only Vol.13.
There are also rumors stating that it’s actually a movie project so it’d be split in two parts, like the recap of S1.
That’d make a lot more sense since Vol.13 is 100 pages longer than all other volumes (bar Vol.14) so, even if taken alone, there is more than enough material for at least 2 hours of screentime.
i must say, i’m surprised they adapted the art style into the anime so well
