What is this chinese bullshit. The marks are all korean but it’s flowing exactly like a chinese story would go. One, the storyline is way too abrupt. Exposition A and it goes on and on. Two, the art is dogshit. I know you’re wondering, and would chalk it up to art style but that’s not it at all. I did a little bit of taekwondo and boxing, on top of studying the forms of some martial arts coz I was bored, the fight scenes do not in any way give respect to what it is supposed to glorify.
MC’s table turning strikes are all weak and pathetic but is illustrated to hit very hard. Like, he would attack when it is clear that his footwork is him retreating, let’s not forget how the combat sequence feels as though they’re only using their arms to fight, and not their entire body. Lastly, dual swords. What the fuck, you do not block with swords that are light enough for you to duel wield. That’s breaking the swords. You’re supposed to deflect, and not do the X-block. That’s only useful if you’re blocking to cut, but even then, it’s so subpar. I hate this so much because it could’ve been good, but they threw it all away.
Bruh… what you say is true. But it won’t be fun if all the things to these n*** do could be done in real life. I’ll rather go watch some MMA or watch a legit martial arts movie. So just chill and re-evaluate why you’re reading this.
Huh? I’m just saying, that the forms of these are atrocious. Saying this to anyone who has any mediocrum of respect to martial arts is basically saying “Just accept that in this story, 1+1=5” to any mathematician. It doesn’t add up and it kills the story. Additionally, if they added proper forms, none of this crap can be done by anyone. It’s like writing a story without an outline, or animating without a storyboard. It’s going to look like shit. I’m sorry if you think that impossibility = coolness. I just prefer to read things that looks more realistic than outright fucking stupid.
What do you really expect when you read fantasy? Especially in martial arts. It’s always exaggerated, there are no “realistic” forms in fantasy.
Oh except there are. Good stances which link up with each other effectively making the strikes look strong? That’s the “realistic” martial arts I’m looking for. Heck in this story, MC fastpassed 7 years and he’s a bit weak yet I call him out still. In other stories that I adore, like the Heavenly Sword or something, he does the impossible. Summoning a dragon with each strike, yet it looks so much better than this crap. Why? Because they actually payed respect to the body and form instead of Oh wow, sudden strength that doesn’t even use most of the body.
Buddy, we all read fantasy, and we all know that they’re unrealistic. I say bullcrap to this because their martial arts are truly crap. Why do you think people love Returner’s Magic should be Special? Especially with all the unrealism? Because it makes sense. It takes what we see IRL and implements them seamlessly into the story. I’m sorry, but I’m not brain damaged enough to just let such idiocracy pass and not call it out. Call me elitist or what not, but I will not stand by shit that doesn’t pay respect to what it is illustrating.
